The blanket stitch applique gives very nice results, especially when using the BERNINA Open Embroidery Foot #20/20C.

  • Select your blanket stitch.
  • Adjust width as necessary. For my small applique pieces, I adjusted width to 2.4 and length 2.7.
  • Move the needle to the far right. Line the edge of the applique with the inside of the right toe.
  • Begin sewing.

The open foot gives you great viewing; easier to keep lined on the edge of the fabric. Use your needle up/down to pivot nicely around the curves and sharp corners.

You might also try the triple blanket stitch, or the pin stitch.

Happy Stitchery!
