Colored opalescent mylar tissue is as fun to use as the noncolor opalescent. Sharon of Heirlooms by Sharon sent me some samples of her new colored opalescent mylar. This is the same quality as the irridescent opal and can be washed and ironed. Can you see the shimmer? Very hard to catch it just right with the camera.
Choose a lightly dense embroidery pattern, or one that is specifically digitized for the mylar. Not so dense or you loose the shimmer, and not too loose or the mylar will not be secured.
To practice a bit with the colored, I choose a nice pattern on my BERNINA 450. I used the pink, purple, gold, and the regular opalescent and just did a quick stitch out. Tomorrow I will select an embroidery design. I can see this near the hem of a dress, skirt, or use the machine's stitch patterns right at the hem.
You must play around with this fabulous mylar! Head to Heirlooms by Sharon. Give her a giant "HELLO" from me.
