Making your own bias strip is easy. Cut your strip on the true bias, 15/16" in width.
This measurement is shown right on the side of the binder.
insert your bias strip into the scroll as shown. Slide your fabric into the very center slot and begin sewing.
Your binder will fold and sew in the same process. The special grooved scroll folds the strip right before it is stitched.
You can also use commercial pre-folded bias binding. Insert into one of the outer slots. For example, your 1/4" will fit into the top slot. Some binders come with 5 slots and others have only 2. If yours has only 2, don't worry about missing out on using the other slots. Binding is sized much differently today than in the past, and you will need to make your own for the smaller slots.
Add two strips to the outside slots OR place your own fabric in the inside scroll and a commercial in the outside slot -
You now can sew two-tone binding!
