3/16 inch - Use to insert packaged piping into seams for a professional look. You can also quite easily make your own piping to match or contrast your sewing project.
The clear view allows you to see piping placement and where you are stitching. You can easily see the first row of stitching and then adjust your needle position for stitching next to your original row. If your machine does not have the ability to move needle position, you can still use this foot the same way.
Use a straight stitch, lenght 2.5 (mm).
To make piping from your fabric
Cut bias or crosswise grain strips wide enough to cover your cording, plus seam allowances.
Lay the cording on the wrong side of the fabric strip and wrap fabric over the cord.
Place the wrapped fabric under your Clear Piping Foot, having the cord in the groove of the foot.
Sew. The groove is designed to guide the cord so the fabric covers it evenly, and no slippage.
To stitch piping into your seam
Adjust the needle position to sew one setting closer to the cord, hiding the first stitch line.
Place your piping along the seam line, right side of your fabric and with the piping in the groove, sew in place.
Optional - You can sew in one sewing pass by putting the cording between your two layers of fabric.
When sewing curves, it may be easier to notch the seam allowance of the piping.
